Ya sea al abrir un restaurante, una tienda de hardware o una consultoría, es necesario invertir y cuidar las estrategias SEO. Sobre todo mejorando aquellos aspectos como la selección de palabras claves relacionadas con nuestro negocio y una correcta configuración de la &#8220;meta-información&#8221;. But by far the most popular topic of these alerts over the past couple years has been my off-handed mention that <a href="http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=6a1d6250e26e9e48&amp;hl=en">we removed PageRank distribution data from Webmaster Tools</a> in one of our 2009 releases.</p>
<p>The fact that people are still writing about this almost two years later—usually in the context of “Startling news from Susan Moskwa: &#8230;”—really drives home how much PageRank has become a go-to statistic for some webmasters. Even the most inexperienced site owners I talk with have often heard about, and want to know more about, PageRank (“PR”) and what it means for their site. However, as I said in my fateful forum post, the Webmaster Central team has been telling webmasters for years that they shouldn&#8217;t focus so much on PageRank as a metric for representing the success of one’s website. <p>The process for all the other types of pages is similar, you’ll just be required to enter different information for different types of pages.
<p>Once you’ve identified the category your business should be placed, along with the name of your business, you’re ready to start customizing your page. The customization process for a Facebook page is very similar to customizing your own personal Facebook profile. <p>Facebook helps you through the customization process by giving you a list of things you should do to get started.

<p>If you chose the wrong category when you set up your page, you can always update that at the very top of the page. You should also choose an image or create a custom image that expresses who your business is and what it does. Companies often include an image that shows not only their logo, but also their tagline, website, Twitter page, and any other social networking sites right there in the image. Since many people are visual, and Facebook does not give you very many options for customizing the actual layout of the page, having a descriptive image as your avatar can help with engagement.
<p>Once you’ve uploaded an image, the next thing you should do is fill in the descriptive information for your company. Your page profile should be as complete as possible before you start promoting it to your friends and customers. If you click the “Edit Page” button at the top right-hand corner of the page, you’ll be shown a list of settings and descriptive fields that you can fill in.

<p><strong>Your Settings</strong>

<p>If you create a Facebook page using your personal Facebook profile account, you’ll have the option to use Facebook as the page, rather than as yourself as you surf around to other people’s profiles and pages.&nbsp; The first setting is where you can decide if you want to use Facebook as your page when you are posting status updates and comments or not, regardless of whether or not you’re using Facebook as your page or as yourself. We recommend leaving this setting as is. The second setting is for email notifications. If you like to keep your inbox clean, you may want to turn this setting off (by unchecking the box), but you may want to be notified when someone posts on your page’s wall or leaves a comment.
<p><strong>Manage Permissions</strong>
<p>This is where you can decide which users on Facebook can see your page, and what they can see on your page. This is also where you can specify words or phrases that you want to block from appearing on your page, which adds another level of security to the content on your page and helps with the moderation process and spammers.

<p><strong>Basic Information </strong>is where you can fill in the details of your business, and <strong>Profile Picture </strong>is where you can update the image that appears as your avatar. <strong>Manage Admins </strong>is where you can add other people who you’d like to have control over your page. This means editing the profile, viewing statistics, and posting/commenting on the page as the page, rather than as themselves. Anyone can post or comment on your page without being an admin, but the admins are the only ones who can edit the content of the page.
<p>You won’t need to worry about the other tabs until you start interacting with other users and pages on Facebook. Then, you’ll be able to click on the <strong>Insights</strong> tab to see detailed statistics about interaction and demographic information of the user who are engaging with your page. Getting the most out of Facebook Insights deserves its own separate lesson, which we’ll explore later here on Exploring Social Media.
<p>As you’re going through the list of fields to fill in, be sure to click the “Save Changes” button often. You don’t want to lose any of the work you’ve done due to a server error or power outage!
<p>Remember that everything you fill out on your page can be updated or changed at any time by logging in and clicking the “Edit Page” button. We’ll be showing you how to use your page effectively and efficiently for marketing and sales purposes later (including setting up your own custom Facebook tabs), but in the meantime, start playing with the different customizations on your page, inviting friends and current customers to become your fans, and experimenting with posting different types of content to your page such as videos, photos, and blog posts. You’ll quickly start to learn which content engages your fans the most, and then be able to really see results through your page.
